ndonesia will host its first FIFA tournament, the FIFA U-20 World Cup, in May-June 2021. The event will feature 24 nations from around the world, including the Indonesian national team.
Many of football's most iconic players have first impressed in previous editions of the FIFA U-20 World Cup. Diego Maradona and Lionel Messi have won the event with Argentina (in 1979 and 2005 respectively) and both dominated world football after establishing themselves at this level. Luis Figo, Kaka, Thierry Henry, Andres Iniesta and Mohamed Salah are amongst many other leading footballers to have established themselves in previous editions of the FIFA U-20 World Cup.
Teams are split into four groups with the group winners qualifying for the semi-finals before the final in January.
